⚡️ Case Study Highlight

The Boarding Management and Allocation System (BMAS) is an integrated hospital application designed to streamline patient boarding and bed allocation. Connected directly to the hospital’s internal systems, BMAS identifies patients eligible for boarding, notifies bed managers in real time, and suggests the most suitable wards for placement. The system offers a constantly updated live overview of hospital bed usage, showing where boarders are located, which medical team is responsible for them, and current bed availability across all wards. BMAS supports both operational teams, bed managers and ward staff, helping to improve visibility, coordination, and patient flow across the hospital.

🚀 Final Design Implementation

I designed high-fidelity prototypes for the Boarding Management and Allocation System (BMAS) to support the client in securing additional funding. The core journeys I focused on, Identify Boarder, Bed Manager App, and Review Boarded Patient, represent the foundational workflows of the system. These prototypes demonstrated the app’s potential to streamline patient management, improve hospital efficiency, and ultimately deliver better outcomes for both staff and patients.

💎 Results & Impact

The early-stage prototypes illustrated how BMAS could meaningfully improve both staff efficiency and patient care. The intuitive interfaces made it easier for bed managers and clinical teams to track patient boarding in real time and allocate beds appropriately. By reducing friction in high-pressure workflows, the system showed promise in helping hospitals enhance patient flow, minimise wait times, and support better outcomes for patients being boarded.
