A virtual wardrobe app that can help organise your wardrobe effortlessly.

Objective

This project was about helping people to organise their digital wardrobe effortlessly and connecting them through their wardrobes.

Idea

The idea was to help bring the client’s concept to life by delivering an interactive prototype and help the client gain more funding in the future.

High-level goals

Key Project Enhancements

  • Allowing users to have clear visibility and control over their wardrobe anywhere on the go.
  • Introducing a brand new digital wardrobe experience that reduces the cost per wear for all users.
  • Creating a new social experience for all the users.
Approach

Ideation

Based on the initial requirements, I produced a set of wireframes and translated them into visual design mock-ups. I used Balsamiq for the wireframes as I preferred to keep the idea loose and utilised the Sketch app for the visuals. The result provided a visual journey of the app while setting a good foundation to build upon.

Visualisation

The next challenge was visualisation and time management. The project was set with a tight deadline. Therefore, my top priority was to complete the design stage while maintaining other projects with urgent priorities.

I achieved this by constantly involving the client with the design progress while keeping a design change document that kept track of all the design updates.

Design Iterations

To align the design with the client's vision more closely together, I set up several meetings with the client as we reached different design milestones. This coupled with real-time design iteration proved to be a success as I could capture the client's feedback and input simultaneously which saved a tremendous amount of development time.

Delivery & Execution

Once the client approved the final design, the final challenge was to deliver the prototype with limited time left. I explored a range of options to find the most effective and meaningful way of delivering the result. In the end, I decided to come up with my solution by combining Invision, QuickTime and iMovie to produce an interactive prototype demo as well as an introduction video.

The reason for that was because of two things. Firstly, the native interactions from Invision allowed me to transform my static design into native-app-like experiences for my client to interact with. Secondly, by capturing the flow as videos and segregating them into specific journeys I could amplify the features of the product in an easy-to-digest way for the audience.

Conclusion

In the end, I delivered the product as expected within the timeframe and had great feedback from the clients. They liked how they could interact with the app and they were especially impressed by the introduction video.

Overall, I was happy with the outcome of this project and by having gone that extra mile for the clients I enjoyed how I could make a difference for them.
